Teaching Horses and Humans to Excel as Partners.

At Heritage Run Horsemanship we utilize the Parelli Program to train horses of any age, breed, or specialty, and humans – of any background, level, or discipline to excel as partners. Because we believe that every interaction we have with our horses shapes how they perceive and react to the world, the responsibility is ours as horse owners, riders, and ultimately trainers to understand the true nature of the horse.

Using communication, understanding, and psychology, we cross the prey/predator barrier to learn how horses feel, think, act and play and shape our training accordingly.

We start our horses (vs. breaking) in order to develop a partnership and establish a life long relationship. We want our horses to want to be with us. But, like most things in life, it takes a balance to find harmony and success. A balance of carrot and stick. Rapport and Respect. Pressure and Release. Drive and Draw. Using the Parelli Program, principle based training becomes simple and unlocks the secrets to success with horses.

Since finding and following the Parelli program, this pursuit of excellence in horse-man-ship has become my life journey. It motivates and encourages me to change and grow as a wife, friend, teacher, coach and mentor.

Every horse I meet teaches me something new and makes me a little better for the next horse that comes along. But please note, this program is not a quick fix or a one time deal. It’s a life long pursuit of growth and development and is one of the most rewarding and enjoyable journeys imaginable.

The Parelli program is a step-by-step horse training program that anyone can learn, if you have the attitude and dedication to follow the system. This is me – someone from a non-horsey family with an innate desire to excel with horses who is by no means perfect but is now living her dream.
